Senior fares are available to those who are 65+. Reduced rates are available on tickets, monthly passes and annual passes. Senior monthly passes and tickets can be purchased at participatingretail sales outlets.
Arc, the Edmonton region’s electronic fare payment system, will be available for senior fares later in 2023.

How to Apply (First time Applicants)
Applicants 65 years of age or older residing in Edmonton automatically qualify for a $385 senior annual pass.
Must have at least one of the following for proof of age:
- Driver’s licence
- Alberta Government identification card
- Alberta Health Care card
- Permanent Resident card
Must have proof of residency such as:
- Driver’s licence
- Documentation containing a name and Edmonton address (bank statements, utility bills, phone bills)

Must have at least one of the following for proof of age:

Must have a copy of one of the following for proof of income:
- 2021 or 2022T4A (OAS) (if box 21, net supplement paid, shows any amount above zero)
- Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS) letter of eligibility from the Government of Canada
- 2021 or 2022Notice of Assessment (line 15000, taxable individual income must be below $30,265)
- Permanent Resident or a refugee (to qualify, you must have been in Canada less than one year and have not filed a tax return)
- Proof of government Employment Insurance (EI) being received in past three months
- A copy of your Health Benefits Card within the last three months showing receipt of Income Support benefits
Personal information is collected for the purpose of applying for an ETS Seniors Annual Pass and will be used to determine eligibility. Collection is authorized under section 33(c) of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP) Act and is managed and protected in accordance with the Act. Paying for Your Annual Pass
There are two alternative methods to purchase your annual pass:
- Pay by phone, call 780-423-7433 (Monday-Friday; 8am-4:30pm)
Accepted payments: credit card (VISA, Mastercard, American Express), VISA Debit, Debit Mastercard, prepaid VISA/Mastercard - Mailing a cheque, along with your documentation to:

Renewing Your Pass
Any senior who purchased an annual pass the previous year will receive a renewal form in February by mail reminding them to renew their annual pass. This renewal form, along with a cheque or money order made payable to the City of Edmonton, can be returned to ETS in the postage-paid envelope provided. The new annual pass will be mailed once all the documents are received.
If a renewal letter is not received, the Seniors Annual Pass can still be renewed by mail with the following information:
- A cheque or money order made payable to the City of Edmonton for the cost of the pass
- Full name
- Address
- Phone number
- Date of birth
- Proof of income is also required every two years

Frequently Asked Questions
When can I get my Seniors Annual Pass?
Passes are available starting February 1, 2023 but you can get your pass throughout the year until December. For the Seniors Annual Pass, there is no prorated cost. It will remain the same cost, no matter what point in the year you purchase the pass.
What if I have mobility issues?
The Edmonton Service Centre is on the second floor of Edmonton Tower and is accessible by elevator and an escalator. Refer to the new applicants section for instructions on how to apply by email or phone.
If a pass is purchased after April 1, is there a discount applied?
Prorated fares do not apply to any ETS product. The Senior Annual pass always takes effect on April 1 and is valid until March 31 the following year. If you buy your pass a month or months after April, you do not get a discount.
What do I do if I never received my Senior Pass Renewal form or my pass in the mail?

What do I do if I lose my monthly/annual bus pass?
Please contact ETS Lost and Found at 780-496-1622 or fill out the ETS Lost and Found form. If your pass is not found and returned to ETS, a new pass can be purchased by calling 780-423-7433 (Monday-Friday; 8am-4:30pm).
You will be required to pay the full, original price of the pass. Passes are not prorated.If your pass is stolen, a police report will be required to obtain a replacement pass.
